SPLIT, CROATIA

Villa
Dalmacija

An artistic impression of Villa Dalmacija.

Between the trees
and the Adriatic.

A seaside villa, a terrace looking out over the water, and the green of Marjan behind it. This is the setting we’ve chosen for our wedding, on a stretch of coast that already holds a very special place in our story.

A LITTLE ABOUT THE VILLA

A place by the sea

On the southern slopes of Marjan, Villa Dalmacija sits above a small Adriatic cove, surrounded by Mediterranean greenery. Here, Split’s stone and sea meet the wooded landscape of the peninsula.

Take a moment to notice the details: the pale facade against the terracotta coloured roof, the arches opening towards the water, and the palms rising around the villa. Together, they give this corner of the coast its unmistakable character.

The architecture
Graceful arches, warm stone and open terraces that draw your eye towards the Adriatic.

A SENSE OF HISTORY

More than a century
by the sea

The villa dates to 1914, when it was built for Franjo Šiler. By the 1930s, it was known as Pansion Split: a seaside retreat from an earlier chapter of the city’s tourism.

Its history has moved through private hospitality, presidential life and public occasions. Through those changes, it has remained a residence shaped as much by its gardens and coastline as by the building itself.

THE PRESIDENTIAL YEARS

Tito’s Split residence

After the Second World War, the estate was nationalised in 1947 and became a residence of Yugoslav president Josip Broz Tito. That association gave it the name many people still recognise: “Tito’s villa”.

Tito stayed here during visits to Split, including the city’s Mediterranean Games in September 1979. This chapter connects the villa to the wider history of twentieth-century Yugoslavia, beyond its peaceful waterfront setting.

A NEW CHAPTER

A place to gather

The villa has since welcomed official receptions and private celebrations. For our day, what matters most is the chance to bring our favourite people together beside this sea.

We hope you’ll take in the arches, the greenery and the view, and leave with a few memories of your own attached to this place.

WHERE OUR STORY BEGAN

Our first date
at Kašjuni

Sunlit illustration of a curving beach with palms, swimmers and turquoise Adriatic water.
An artistic impression of the Kašjuni coastline.

Just along the coast from the villa is beautiful Kašjuni Beach, where we had our first date on 18 July 2019.

With its pebble shore, clear water and green Marjan backdrop, it is a beautiful corner of Split. To us, it will always be the place where our story started.

On 18 July 2027, eight years after our first date, we’ll celebrate our wedding nearby. The same date, the same coast, and a new chapter with all of you beside us.

Some places become part of you.
